WILDES AND ST FRANCIS HOTEL RELEASE COLLABORATIVE EP ‘KOPFKINO’ WITH DARK SPRINGSTEEN COVER
WILDES and St Francis Hotel have unveiled their new collaborative EP, Kopfkino, alongside a visualizer for their reimagined cover of Bruce Springsteen’s State Trooper. The track, which closes the EP, offers a dark, industrial take on the 1982 classic.
“State Trooper is one of our favorite Springsteen songs, but our version evolved indirectly," WILDES explains. “We were deeply influenced by Suicide, whose raw, mechanical sound also shaped Springsteen’s original. Our take leans into that inspiration, making the song even more atmospheric."
Bringing experience from collaborations with The Flaming Lips, Little Simz, and Michael Kiwanuka, the duo crafts Kopfkino as an exploration of the mind, blending ‘80s synth-pop and trip-hop influences. From the introspective In The Floodlight to the shadowy urgency of Are You Gonna Speak?, the EP navigates themes of personal growth and escapism. The title track blurs fantasy and reality, with WILDES’s hypnotic vocals weaving through cinematic soundscapes.
Kopfkino is out now, delivering an immersive, genre-blurring experience.
