SHURA UNVEILS NEW SINGLE "RICHARDSON" FEAT. CASSANDRA JENKINS

British singer-songwriter and producer Shura has released her latest single, Richardson, featuring New York artist Cassandra Jenkins. The track is the second from her upcoming album, I Got Too Sad For My Friends, set for release on May 30 via Play It Again Sam. Shura has also announced two headline shows at London’s Bush Hall on June 10 and 11.

Richardson captures the album’s introspective tone, with Shura singing, “I got too down around my friends” over a mellow groove, delicate guitar licks, and soft keys. It was the first song she wrote for the album and the first she had penned alone on an acoustic guitar since childhood. Featuring Jenkins—whose album An Overview on Phenomenal Nature was a rare comfort for Shura during a stressful period—the track closes the emotional loop, as Jenkins' harmonies mirror the solace she once provided.

Shura on the collaboration:
"I fell in love with Cassandra's record at a low point in my life—it felt like an armchair I could crawl into. I knew I wanted to work with her, and after a few conversations, it became clear this song was the one. It's about walking, thinking, and seeking comfort, much like Cassandra’s music did for me then."

Jenkins adds:
"Richardson captures a mood that’s hard to define—a limbo we carry with us. This collaboration became a meta-conversation between Shu and me about how we stay connected to loved ones despite distance, time, or circumstance. It makes me feel like we were cosmic pen pals before we even met."

Since her last album forevher, Shura’s life has been a mix of highs and lows. She became a pro-streamer, played Baldur's Gate 3 (twice), and pursued weightlifting, inspired by Love Lies Bleeding. But the pandemic derailed her forevher tour and left her struggling with identity. Isolated in New York and separated from family, she faced a personal health scare while pre-grieving for loved ones, feeling both physically and emotionally detached from friends.

Now, with I Got Too Sad For My Friends, she channels that experience into music once more.
