ICHIKO AOBA SHARES ‘LUCIFÉRINE’ WITH ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT
Japanese singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Ichiko Aoba has announced her latest album, Luminescent Creatures, set for release on February 28, 2025, via her own imprint, hermine. Alongside the album announcement, she shares the lead single “Luciférine” and unveils a major 2025 world tour, her largest to date, featuring an exclusive London performance of the entire album at The Barbican.
Known for her ability to transport listeners into immersive sonic landscapes, Aoba seamlessly blends her signature classical guitar with sweeping orchestral arrangements. Her acclaimed 2020 album, Windswept Adan, told the tale of a girl’s voyage to the mythical Adan Island, a record lauded by Pitchfork, The Guardian, and The Needle Drop. Windswept Adan became a word-of-mouth sensation, ultimately landing as the top user-rated album of 2020 on Album of the Year.
With Luminescent Creatures, Aoba delves even deeper, exploring themes of life’s origins within lush, dreamy soundscapes. “Luminescent Creatures was born from Windswept Adan,” Aoba shares. “It began when I started wondering what happened after the protagonist of Windswept Adan disappeared, along with the music of the island’s inhabitants. What would be left?”
