BETH MCKENZIE RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘INSIDE OUT’
Beth McKenzie, a queer female artist, is making waves in the evolving music industry, driven by a passion for change. Whether it’s exploring her identity through powerful lyrics or performing with an all-female band, her work reflects her commitment to being the kind of representation she longed for as a young artist.
Her latest single, Inside Out, offers a final glimpse into her debut EP, set to drop this autumn. The five-track collection shifts between vibrant indie-pop and edgy, alternative sounds, revealing Beth’s deeply personal reflections.
Though classically trained, Beth’s current sound marks a departure from her musical roots. After a turbulent period in her late teens, songwriting became her creative lifeline, allowing her to develop a candid, emotionally rich style. Each lyric she crafts is a raw, honest expression of her experiences, showcasing her talent for turning personal struggles into art.
Speaking on the track, Beth explains - ‘This song was so difficult to write. I kept putting it to one side over a number of months, but for some reason I kept persisting with it. I was so relieved that I finally got it to the place I wanted.
‘Inside Out’ is about knowing somebody so well that you know they are going to hurt you. I should have ran but I kept spending time with them and they kept hurting me. “That's my fault of course, 'cause I know you inside out”. Finally I did put an end to it. I was a wreck for quite a while but this song has been such a good way to reflect on it.’
Keep up with Beth McKenzie -
