ALICE PHOEBE LOU RELEASES FIRST SELF-PRODUCED TRACK “YOU AND I”
Globally beloved singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou marks a new chapter in her artistic journey with the release of her first fully self-produced track, the tender and introspective “You and I.”
The stripped-back love song harks back to her early busking days, offering raw simplicity paired with the emotional clarity of an artist in full bloom. With her signature dreamy lyricism, Alice gently invites a lover to let go of the past and embrace the possibility of a deeper future together. “‘You and I’ is about longing and surrender in love—it’s both a confession and a prayer,” Alice explains. “It asks for honesty, presence, and the courage to dive into something deeper together.”
Following five band albums, Alice opens up a treasure trove of long-held personal songs—tracks that never found a home on previous records. “I’m finally recording them as they are—simple, playful, imperfect, and entirely my own,” she says, citing timeless folk influences as her inspiration. The release also marks the beginning of a new partnership with Nettwerk Music Group, joining a roster that includes Paris Paloma and bôa. The collaboration allows Alice to preserve her DIY ethos while gaining global support to amplify her music.
Having spent the last decade honing her craft in Germany after leaving her native South Africa, Alice is now relocating to warmer shores. Her new music reflects both the close of a formative chapter and the start of a vibrant new one. “I became who I am in Germany,” she reflects. “Now, I’m honoring that girl who sang on street corners with just her guitar—grateful for where I came from, and excited for where I’m going.”
